This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Secretary you will be responsible for performing clerical and administrative work in support of the Division of Acadedmic Affairs Education, Business and Human Services Department.
Duties
As a Secretary GS-0318-5, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
Serve as the initial contact and provides receptionist services for the Department.
Provide administrative and clerical support to the Department, maintaining time and attendance records, preparing travel authorizations and procuring office supplies.
Coordinate meetings and schedules conferences.
Process incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication.
Maintain office filing systems.

You must meet the following Minimum Qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-05: One year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Examples include: Providing information to supervisors, faculty, staff, and students by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person; making travel arrangements for supervisory and other employees in accordance with applicable travel regulations; maintaining logs to track information utilizing spreadsheets and tables; filing material and maintaining office filing system; handling incoming and outgoing correspondence and distributing to appropriate personnel or office; requisitioning office supplies; and entering data from various documents into a computer system.

4 years education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Combination of experience and education described above, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.
