About the Position: Serves as the Retirement Services Officer (RSO) and Retirement Services Program Manager, performing under the Director of Human Resources or the Military Personnel Director depending on the garrison size/location.

Duties

Serve as the Retirement Services Officer (RSO) and Retirement Services Program Manager, performing under the Director of Human Resources or the Military Personnel Director. Provide individual personalized and group in-depth counseling and assistance to eligible active Army personnel, Retired Soldiers, their dependents, or survivors. Actively involved in Retirement Services budget formulation with the Director of Human Resources or the Military Personnel Division Chief.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10%.
  • A one-year probationary period is required.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Management, Business Administration, Resource Management or Human Resources Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-11:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service or equivalent which includes: 1) Conducting counseling sessions to provide individualized information regarding retirement benefits; 2) Compiling funding requirements for the annual budget submission; AND 3) Preparing reports and/or publications for review at higher headquarters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources Management, Business Management and Public Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
