About the Position: Serves as Financial Technician performing analysis and evaluation of financial, budget, accounting, and payroll data pertaining to a diverse fund environment.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD.
Duties
Performs a variety work involving of financial programs where there are frequent changes in practice, procedures, reporting and operational requirements.
Conducts standard account maintenance and accounting support that employs a basic understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
Provides technical guidance, advice, and work in support of the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, and custody of cash items.
Determines pay, conducts payroll records maintenance, and completes/publishes reports that pertain to civilian employees of the organization.
Initiates collections not related to pay and leave, maintain retirement records, or process health benefit forms.
Posts, examines, balances, computes, and extracts data from records to prepare reports.
Establishes, maintains, corrects, and close pay accounts for active, reserve, and/or retired military personnel and their annuitants.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position may require the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing
- Telework: You may be authorized to Telework on a situational basis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) utilizing automated systems to enter and/or maintain financial accounts; 2) identifying and resolving issues regarding pay and/or financial concerns; 3) drafting and analyzing reports regarding finances. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
