This position is located in the Office of the Executive Secretariat, Office of the Secretary, Correspondence, Communications Control Unit (CCCU). The CCCU Staff is the central point of all communications directed to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Education and is the control mechanism for ensuring that timely action is taken on the wide variety of complex documents received for the Secretary's and Deputy Secretary's review, approval, and/or signature.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification RequirementsYou may meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-11, if you possess the specialize experience, education, or a combination of the two.Specialized Experience for the GS-11
One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-09 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments:
1. Experience tracking, drafting, and reviewing documents and correspondence for content compliance with policy.2. Experience with workflow patterns and making recommendation to leadership for process improvements.3. Experience tracking and reviewing documents and clearances, to ensure timely responses to department regulations.OREDUCATION (see EDUCATION SECTION of the vacancy announcement)OR A combination of both education and experience in which the total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) The quality of your experience will be measured by the extent to which you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs). Knowledge of Department of Education organization and functions, policies, programs, applicable legislation, current issues and events of significance as is relate to the management of incoming communications. 2. Knowledge of the principles, practices, concepts, and theories applicable to the full range of correspondence and communications control management functions. 3. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to establish priorities, set work schedules, and act promptly and accurately under pressure of severe deadlines.
Education
You may meet the minimum qualifications of this position by meeting the following education options.
Ph.D.
OR
equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related
OR
A combination of specialized experience and education that when taken as a percentage of the required education and experience total 100% or more.
