About the Position: This is a Defense Travel Technician position located in San Diego, California.
Duties
Assist in coordination of all required actions to support the successful deployment, operation, and management of Defense Travel System (DTS).
Serve as on-site help desk technician, answering travel-related issues such as accuracy of travel data tables and certifications and sustainment training requirements.
Assist travelers with training requirements and applying for/maintaining their government travel cards.
Correct problems on the spot or through coordination with the Accounting Section of the Resource Management Branch and the Defense Travel Management Office Travel Assistance Center (DTMO TAC)
Acquire and update personnel data that will be used to establish traveler profiles in DTS.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is eligible for situational telework.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain a Financial Management Level 1 Certification within their first two years of employment.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees may be required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing one or more of the following: (1) reviewing budgetary data pertaining to travel expenses, (2) utilizing financial systems to enter or retrieve financial data, (3) reviewing financial reports to review for accuracy or determine compliance with policies, or (4) assisting personnel or customers with travel system related inquiries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
