About the Position: This position is in the Naval Medical Center Office of Resource Management, Financial, San Diego, California. San Diego is a city on the Pacific coast of California known for its beaches, parks and warm climate. Immense Balboa Park is the site of the San Diego Zoo, as well as numerous art galleries, art studios museums and gardens. A deep harbor is the Home to a large active naval fleet, with the USS Midway an aircraft-carrier-turned-museum, open to the public.
Duties
Assist in coordination of all required actions to support the successful deployment, operation, and management of Defense Travel System.
Serve as on-site help desk technician, answering travel-related issues such as accuracy of travel data tables and certifications and sustainment training requirements.
Assist travelers with training requirements and applying for/maintaining their government travel cards.
Assist staff with travel order preparation and settlement vouchers when done manually or through the Defense Travel System.
Acquire and update personnel data that will be used to establish traveler profiles in Defense Travel System.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working with automated travel systems, such as: Defense Travel System (DTS); assisting others with travel order preparation and reviewing vouchers prior to submission; aiding on travel related issues; activating/deactivating travel cards; and identifying system issues and providing recommendations.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business or Accounting.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
