Duties
As a Supervisory Health Scientist, you will:
Advise the Division Director about policy, research, surveillance, and program directions of the agency as they relate to national public health initiative.
Provide leadership and overall direction for the Branch.
Direct and manage the operations of the Branch
Determine allocation of human and financial resources for the Branch.
Assure compliance with related legal requirements.
Execute the administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the mission assigned.
Ensure the scientific integrity and quality for the Branch in conducting surveillance, behavioral, and epidemiologic research.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: planning, managing, and evaluating public health programs, research, and surveillance related to suicide prevention and behavioral health.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
