Job opening: ELECTRICIAN LEADER

Salary: $34 - 40 per hour

You will serve as an ELECTRICIAN LEADER in the PRODUCTION DIVISION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will plan and lay out sequence of work from drawings or blueprints to repair electrical circuits, systems, equipment, and controls. You will instruct team members on work requirements, sequence, procedures, and deadlines to be met. You will determine if faulty electrical components need to be reworked or replaced. You will ensure that all tools, material and equipment are available at each job site. You will follow wiring diagrams to determine details of electrical work (e.g., nature of repair and installation, layout and placement of circuitry, types of wiring, equipment installed). You will spot check jobs to ensure code, safety and quality requirements are met and inspect jobs at completion.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must have a current state-issued Journeyman license in the electrician trade. In states without an electrician journeyman/master’s license classification, must have the equivalent local, state or national license required working without supervision.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION and demonstrate the following skills: 1) Performing a full range of maintenance, operation, repair, installation and troubleshooting to the electrical systems; (2) Working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to repair or replace existing electrical systems, controls and equipment; and (3) Being able to make operational tests and adjustments as necessary.
