The Suicide Prevention Coordinator is a Social Work Coordinator who will serve to facilitate implementation and coordination of suicide prevention strategies to help ensure that all appropriate measures are taken to prevent suicide in our Veteran population. This is accomplished through various strategies to include education, monitoring and coordination activities.

Major Duties include:
Develops and implements information systems to track services including visits, referrals, inpatient admissions, patient demographics, and patient satisfaction
Assists with case management duties
Responsible for data collection, administrative record keeping, monitoring of patient or program indicators, and performance measurements
Responds to consults from the National Suicide Prevention Hotline and coordinates the follow up care for these Veterans and families
Develops and implements an ongoing education plan for providers, Veterans, families
Provides referrals to VA medical and mental health treatment and to other VA services
Assesses high risk factors, acuity, and the need for services
Consults with other specialists in planning treatment for Veterans
Provides orientation and on-going training for interdisciplinary team
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:30am to 4:00pm

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
Education: Must have a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
Licensure: Must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level at the GS-12 grade level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING GRADE REQUIREMENTS:
GS-12 Grade Determination: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency.
In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program.
Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.
Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s).
Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice.

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS12. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS12.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Physical demands do not exceed those of a typical office setting. There may be some walking, standing, twisting, turning, sitting, pushing, bending, and repetitive keyboarding, or carrying of light items.
