About the Position: This position will be located in the Department of Surgery Anesthesiology Service at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Coordinate, prepare, and make recommendations for the departmental performance plan including operating budget, clinical business operations, and emergency management plan Manage human resources for the department. Ensures all personnel actions are initiated and tracked to completion. Collaborate with personnel specialists at the CPAC and MEDCOM in finding solutions to management problems arising due to changes in mission requirements that have an impact on jobs and employees within the department. Certify time and attendance for civilian employees. Provide subordinates the requirements and descriptions of the work to be performed and tracks progress. Conduct management analysis studies and special projects to detect needed improvements. Directly supervise approximately 3 employees engaged in administrative work.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Business Management, Health Management, Health Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementKnowledge ManagementManages and Organizes InformationOrganizational Awareness Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
