Duty Location: Sacramento, California and Willows, California
The final determination of the duty station for this position will be made by the selecting official at the time of the job offer.
Duties
Serves as a program support assistant responsible for a variety of administrative and support functions. Duties include:
Receives office visitors and telephone calls.
Answers routine inquiries or refers to appropriate staff member.
Uses automation equipment and software to prepare correspondence, reports, and graphics.
Coordinates travel arrangements.
Performs data entry.
Maintains a variety of time and attendance data, labor costs records, overtime and leave requests in accordance with established guidelines.
Maintains office files.
Qualifications
Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a qualified typist. Applicants must possess typing skill of at least 40 words per minute. Certification may be a certificate of proficiency dated within the past 3 years or self-certification by stating current speed on your application for employment/resume. Failure to provide proof will cause you to be rated ineligible for this position.
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the education or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.
To qualify at the GS-05, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-04 level in federal service having demonstrated experience in general office experience that included responsibility for coordinating a variety of administrative support services such as preparing correspondence and reports, mail and filing, travel, time and attendance, inputting to and/or maintaining databases which support the administrative activities of an office; OR Successful completion of four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Successful completion of post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
To qualify at the GS-06, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service having demonstrated experience performing administrative support duties for an organization (e.g., data input, customer service, data gathering, preparing reports, correspondence, maintaining files, and monitoring training schedules/progress) and using automated systems to accurately document and maintain records and/or materials.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 09/19/2024.
Education
This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience at the GS-5 grade level. Applicants must submit a copy of college transcript(s) (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. Non-submission may result in being rated not-qualified for the position.
