The primary purpose of this position is to lead three or more workers to accomplish trades and/or labor work on a substantially full time and continuing basis. Leader is responsible to both perform the work assigned by a supervisor and ensures that subordinates completed assigned work consistent with trades and labor standards.
Duties
On a regular and recurring basis, utilizes trades and/or labor knowledge and skill to lead a team of three or more workers in performance of
various related work.
Assigns work to individual workers verbally or in writing. Performs nonsupervisory trades and/or labor work that is usually of the same kind and level as members of the work crew led.
Assists first-level supervisor in planning overall schedule and recommends approval or disapproval of special leave requests submitted by subordinate employees.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains safe and clean work environment

- The duties of this position require the employee to operate a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required
- Must receive training on the handling and siposition of hazardous waste.
- As required, trains and/or guides lower grade personnel.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5800 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Maintenance Family located here. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (Includes blueprint reading)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Troubleshooting
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
