You will serve as anEXPLOSIVES SAFETY SPECIALIST (AA&E INSPECTOR) in the Headquarters, Military Sealift Command, Directorate Maritime Operations Logistics Department (N4) and Ordnance Management Division (47). Military Sealift Command, Norfolk Virginia.
Duties
You will inspect installed shipboard arms, ammunition and explosives (AAE) magazine sprinkler systems for conformance to established specifications.
You will conduct and document shipboard arms, ammunition and explosive (AAE) Magazine Sprinkler System assessment, inspection, and technical assistance.
You will develop plans and procedures for Arms, Ammunition and Explosives logistics support for activation and deactivation of ships in MSC core fleet ships.
You will develop, update and execute policies and procedures to maintain compliance with Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives safety, physical security and stowage requirements for assigned ships.
You will advise program managers concerning Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AAE) stowage requirements necessary for compliance with higher authority. You will develop portable RSL inventory by unique identifier and material condition.
You will periodically inventory and reporting requirements to apply explosives safety techniques and methods to resolve problems.

- You will be required to sign DD Form 2365 and must be removed from military recall status.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-13 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience in shipboard AA&E sprinkler systems to assess proper installation, maintenance performance and troubleshoot operation as detailed in Naval Ships Technical Manuals, NAVSEA Drawings, and Magazine Sprinkler System Maintenance Handbook to develop methods and procedures to correct discrepancies.
Experience in operations associated with AA&E material movement, shipboard stowage configurations, gun mounts, and explosives safety and all of the interrelated aspects of ammunition, distribution and control, ammunition inventory management, and ordnance transportation management to sufficiently serve as an explosive's safety technical authority.
Experience in all areas of Small Arms, Weapons Mounts, and Stowage/Storage systems including Ready Service Locker/Magazine (RSL/M).
