About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada.

Duties

Passes on to other works instructions received from supervisor and starts work by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group of employees led. Represents management as the direct interface between Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield, the Army Field Support Battalion (AFSBN), and the Defense Logistics Agency representatives for all matters concerning petroleum supply and distribution requirements. Responsible for requesting the ordering of bulk F-24, when needed, to maintain mission readiness for Department of Defense aircraft. Directs the receipt and transfer of F-24 from commercial tank trucks to storage tank, checking and controlling receiving documents on incoming shipments for proper identification of fuel and destination of shipment.

  • Travel for duty up to 5% of the time.
  • Rotating shift work is required to cover evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Must obtain the HAZMAT Endorsement to the Commerical Driver's License within 6 months of employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Fuel Distribution System Operator Leader (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision, operating various types of pumps used to load, unload, and transfer fuel oils, gasoline, and jet fuels through pipelines and hoses to and from tank farms, fueling pits, ships, aircraft, tankers, railroad tank cars, and tank trucks - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. In addition to meeting the screen out element listed above, applicants must have the following certification at the time of application: This position requires the selectee to possess and maintain a valid state issued commercial driver's license (Class A or B with no airbrake restrictions) to operate vehicles exceeding 26,000 pounds gross weight rating; vehicles with a towed unit with a weight rating of over 10,000 pounds; and/or any vehicle on which placards are required per 49 CFR, part 172, Subpart F, used to transport hazardous materials. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment that weigh up to 70 pounds, and may handle items that weigh over 70 pounds. Most work is performed outside in all kinds of weather. Follows safety regulations and uses safety equipment and precautions to avoid danger from fumes, flames and explosions or to avoid slipping or falling from equipment.
