You will serve as a Test Mechanic (ALAD) in the FRC Mid-Atlantic of FLTREADCEN DET MID ATLANTIC PAX RIVER.

Duties

You will read and interpret blueprints and sketches to accomplish assigned aircraft launch and recovery equipment (ALRE) tasks. You will use handheld power tools to drill, cut, shape, and prepare parts for installation. You will design, modify, and operate test rigs to meet test requirements of aircraft launch and recovery equipment (ALRE) systems. You will install and inspect aircraft launch and recovery equipment (ALRE) systems and components for wear.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including (1) Set up and operate various stationary and portable power tools to complete work assignments; 2) Manufacture, assemble, disassemble, and overhaul installation and test of ALRE systems and components for the department; 3) Maintain and ensure safe work practices and housekeeping procedures are followed: 4) Anticipate various aircraft launching and arresting device problems and recommend solutions; 5) Read and interpret incomplete and tentative blueprint, schematic drawings, detailed Federal, Navy, and Commercial Engineering codes and specifications).
