You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER in the Assistant Vice President for Administration, Logistics Division, Receiving, Distribution and Records Branch of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.
Duties
You will assist in the safe and secure receiving, movement and storage of highly technical medical research and teaching supplies and equipment.
You will conduct material receiving procedures, exercising care and precautions during uncrating and unpacking material.
You will locate and store material in the proper place within the property cage, secure storage containers, refrigeration units, main warehouse, and satellite storage buildings.
You will deliver equipment items to laboratories and/or operating areas, exercising care and precautions in handling highly technical, sophisticated research and teaching items.
You will operate a full range of material handling conveyances including forklifts, mechanized and manual pallet jacks, delivery carts and others.
You will utilize material handling equipment to load/unload delivery trucks and transport items to end users of storage locations.
You will operate government vehicles with weights less than 4,500 kilograms (10,000 pounds) when delivering non-hazardous items between geographically separated locations.
You will prepare packages to ensure safe handling and prevention of damage during transportation, adhering to all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
You will process shipments of radioactive material with extreme precision and in accordance with agency standard operating procedures, Department of Defense and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) directives and federal rules and regulations.
You will utilize hand-held computer operating devices to scan bar codes and perform data entry of critical receiving and delivery information.
You will synchronize all receiving and delivery data with a web-based software application to accurately record receipts and deliveries.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require lift and carry items that weigh up to 75 pounds.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
