You will serve as a MATERIAL HANDLER in the LOGISTICS DIVISION, PROPERTY MANAGEMENT BRANCH of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.

Duties

You will be responsible for the safe and secure movement, storage, tagging, crating, packing, redistribution, and disposal of medical research and teaching equipment (e.g. liquid scintillation counters, hoods, sterilizers, etc.) You will be responsible for processing documents and verifying the quantity and conditions of materials and equipment. You will be responsible for orderly locating and storing material in proper place such as a property cage, warehouse, or storage building. You will receive and respond to equipment/furniture requests by instructing requestor on appropriate procedures. You will operate a forklift and other Government vehicles up to and including 5-ton trucks.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position required the incumbent to lift and move objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
