You will serve as a LEAD SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENT, SAFETY & HEALTH OFFICE of PSNS and IMF as an Environment, Safety and Health (ESH) manager.
Duties
You will be responsible for assisting in the planning, administration, evaluation, and overall management of a comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health (OSH) Development program as a lead ESH manager on projects.
You will advise and mentor Safety Specialists to ensure OSH programs are in compliance during shipyard availabilities and that necessary plans and projects are in place to meet regulatory guidelines.
You will provide technical expertise, guidance, mentoring, and development during day-to-day operations and activities in assigned area of responsibility.
You will develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as necessary for effective project management during shipboard execution phases.
You will coach a team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques.
You will maintain program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents.
You will recommend guidelines, criteria and specifications for new or revised ESH compliance initiatives in accordance with federal, state and local directives.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position requires intermittent or prolonged periods of working at a rapid pace and/or working for longer than normal working hours.
- This position involves extended periods of walking, climbing, and standing.
- Majority of work is performed outside, onboard naval vessels, in dry-dock, on barges, floating cranes, riding on various types of watercrafts, at heights in excess of 50 feet and in confined spaces.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning and evaluating an Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental program to prevent injuries, accidents, or loss to personnel or property in an industrial production environment.
