You will serve as a Safety & Occupational Health Manager in the Gas Free Engineering & Industrial Hygiene Branch of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will serve as the expert and consultant with full technical authority in gas free engineering.
You will develop goals and program plans, ensuring efficient interface of effort among other shipyard departments to accomplish command policy, program, and mission.
You will function as the shipyard's authority on all aspects of the Gas Free Engineering Program.
You will recommend policy changes, periodically review the results, and resolve or decide upon technical, policy or procedural questions that require unique solutions or establish precedence on a Navy-wide basis.
You will provide technical guidance and oversight for the training program for PSNS and IMF Gas Free Engineers in Training (GFEIT) and NCPs.
You will be responsible for implementation and management of one or more Shipyard OSH programs.
You will identify, evaluate and control conditions or hazards that may cause occupational illness, injury, or otherwise affect the well-being of Shipyard employees performing operations in shore facilities and shipboard.
You will attend critiques to investigate causes of program-related incidents. Critiques include mid-level management (e.g. project/shop/group superintendents).
You will perform other occupational safety and health duties, as assigned, consistent with the mission of the department.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: administering a Safety and Occupational Health Program to include developing procedures and guideline for controlling or elimination industrial hazards causing personnel injury or property damage.
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Must be a board-certified GAS FREE ENGINEER by the NAVSEA GAS FREE PROGRAM BOARD.
