About the Position: This position is located with the Department of Behavioral Health, Family Advocacy Program located at Fort Carson, CO.

Duties

Interviews clients to provide information about the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). Reports all suspected child abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse allegations to CPS and appropriate military and/or civilian law enforcement agencies. Coordinates services with the installation Victim Advocate for resources, emergency shelter information, protective orders, and other supportive services in spouse/intimate partner cases. Provides psycho-educational treatment classes and co-facilitates clinical group treatment with assigned licensed clinical social workers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a Childcare National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (CNACI) background investigation and has periodic re-verification requirements.
  • Incumbent is subject to central registry check (Department of Defense child and domestic abuse reporting system).
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification. Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This is an Inclement Weather Essential position; you must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather condition.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing training/educational services and assistance in child abuse, neglect, and domestic abuse issues; performing safety assessments and assisting in developing a safety plan for adult victims of domestic abuse; and evaluating clients to determine required services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Child and Family Welfare, Counseling, Family andCommunity Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Sociology, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling.ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Oral CommunicationPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
