This position is located at Departmental Offices, Domestic Finance. As a/an POLICY ADVISOR, you will use judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines such as agency policies, regulations, precedents, and work directions for application to specific tasks or problems.

Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Conduct research on a wide range of issues related to Domestic Finance, including financial research, community economic development research, legal research, regulatory and policy developments.
Prepare responses to Congressional, press or other public inquiries.
Summarize findings and research in written products of various types, including tables, charts, short summaries, as well as longer memos, presentations and reports
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
For the GS-13: You must have one year of Specialized Experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience for the GS-13 includes:
- Analyzing policies, programs and practices related to community and economic development, such as, small business finance and development, housing policy, capital access, and issues related to underserved communities to develop policy initiatives; AND
- Experience producing and providing community and economic development written memoranda, briefing papers, presentations or research summaries for use by senior officials.
Examples of such experience could include:
-Writing comprehensive community and economic development briefing materials, including issue papers and memoranda, including for the purpose of meetings, speeches, interviews, and Congressional testimony; OR
-Summarizing community and economic development findings and research into written products of various types such as tables, charts, short summaries, or longer memos, presentations and reports; OR
-Preparing responses to Congressional, press or other public inquiries pertaining to community and economic development issues; OR
-Conducting community and economic development research on a wide range of issues related to Domestic Finance such as, financial research, legal research, or regulatory and policy developments.

- Assisting in preparing written materials and memoranda and preparing responses to Congressional, press or other public inquiries on community and economic development topics and issues.
Examples of such experience could include:
- Assisting in preparing written materials, including briefing or issue papers, including for the purpose of meetings, speeches, interviews, and testimony on community and economic development topics and issues; OR
- Summarizing findings and research in written products of various types such as tables, charts, short summaries, or longer memos, presentations and reports on community and economic development topics and issues; OR
- Assisting in preparing responses to Congressional, press or other public inquiries related to community and economic development topics and issues.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
