About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) - Police/Provost Marshal Division, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville.

Duties

Serve as a Lead Police Officer assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations. Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts. Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires a Pre-employment physical. The incumbent will be required to pass an entry level and annual re-certification of the standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
  • The incumbent must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • This is a drug testing designated position.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • This position is designated as a Mission Essential position.
  • The incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • The incumbent must work irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • The incumbent must wear a uniform and comply with the Army Civilian Police Dress and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene in accordance with AR 190-56.
  • The incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • The incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • The incumbent must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the GS-08 grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementLaw Enforcement Information Management and AdministrationTraffic Control Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50 that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package.
