About the Position: This position is located with the DES, Police/Provost Marshal Division on Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville.

Duties

Serve as the Patrol Branch Chief of the installation Provost Marshal Office within the organization with overall responsibility for the command and control of all law enforcement patrol operations. Direct overall operation through first line supervisors. Conduct and/or coordinate long- and short-term investigations. Oversee completion of Law Enforcement reports and MP desk operations. Establish priorities to coordinate, plan, organize and complete work. Perform various law enforcement and administrative functions throughout the department.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state drivers license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator license.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Tier 3 (Secret) security investigation.
  • This position requires a Pre-employment physical. The incumbent will be required to pass an entry level and annual re-certification of the standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
  • This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • The incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • The incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • This position requires the ability to lift approximately 45 lbs.
  • Position requires incumbent to serve a 1 year Supervisory probationary period upon entrance into the position.
  • Works in an office and outside and is exposed to inclement weather at times.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
