This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Serves as the Lead Emergency Management Specialist in the Security Management Division for the National Archives & Records Administration (NARA). Supports the supervisor and leads lower grade emergency management specialists for the continuity of operations and emergency management program.
Duties
As aLead Emergency Management Specialist, you will:
- Be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the NARA continuity program, represents NARA on the Continuity Advisory Group, the Continuity Communications Managers Group, and other interagency working groups, as appropriate, and reporting to the supervisor, division manager, and the Continuity Coordinator, as appropriate, on all continuity and emergency management program activities.
- Develop continuity or other needed training materials ensuring consistency with Federal and agency directives and policy.
- Ensure the operational readiness, security, and safety of the NARA Headquarters Alternate Operating Facility at Rocket Center, WV and manages the classified and restricted areas and communication systems within the facility.
- Provide guidance of work that involves the coordination of emergency mitigation, response, recovery, and preparedness training and exercises and engages all internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the supervisor in the day-to-day operations through a staff of emergency management specialists of a lower grade including communication the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision and goals.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Assisting leadership in disaster and emergency operations, such as: identifying or analyzing critical information to provide situational awareness and understanding for decision makers in a broad community of interest; AND
- Providing recommendations to improve emergency management programs.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
