You will serve as a REGION INSPECTOR/INVESTIGATOR within the Region Inspector General Office of COMNAVREGSW SDIEGO. You will be assigned as the Naval Air Weapon Station China Lake (NAWSCL) Installation IG and your office will be located at the NAWSCL Installation in Ridgecrest, CA. Salary range: GS-11: $84,366 - $109,673 per annum GS-12: $101,121 - $131,452 per annum

Duties

You will evaluate cases relating to violations of laws, rules or regulations to check compliance with regulatory standards. You will lead investigative teams to evaluate allegations of fraud, waste, abuse and or mismanagement made against individuals. You will offer advice and guidance to senior and executive level management officials on the efficiency and effectiveness of operating programs. You will create written briefings to make recommendations for corrective action.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Participating in an inspection and/or investigation program that assesses compliance of Region and Installation programs with applicable regulations to detect deficiencies, improprieties, and inefficiencies; 2) Evaluating the extent of compliance with policies and procedures to deter fraud, waste, or mismanagement; 3) Assisting in the evaluation of strengths of internal controls within the organization in preparation of the development of Manager's Internal Control Certification Statement, or any equivalent internal or external compliance inspection report; and 4) Preparing inspection and/or investigation reports detailing findings and recommendations for leadership. NOTE: Your answer must be supported by information in your resume. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at one least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Receiving and assessing a variety of hotline complaints as an inspector in order to apply the proper course of action; 2) Assisting or supporting members of a team as an inspector in conducting investigations regarding assigned hotline complaints, command directed investigations, and other specialized assigned investigations; 3) Assisting with or supporting coordinating schedules for inspections, while ensuring compliance with standing regulations governing operations; and 4) Preparing investigative and compliance inspection reports from sufficient evidence in a clear and concise manner in order to justify the findings or recommendations.
