These are Student Internship positions under the Pathway Internship Program. Student Intern positions are under the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Office of Administration (ADM), Human Capital Strategy & Organizational Development (HCSOD). Student Interns can be placed in any of DSCA's six offices dependent upon the student intern's skills and qualifications and the agency's workforce needs at the time of this post.

Duties
These are developmental position designed to provide interns with challenging assignments that will broaden their perspectives on issues facing the government and prepare them for future positions throughout the government.
The following are the duties of this position at a full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.
The Pathways Student Intern will work with and support the office they are assigned to:
Assist senior specialist and supervisor in conducting program functions.
Participate in special projects assigned by the supervisor, team leader, and/or higher-level staff within the assigned office.
Develop and coordinate a variety correspondence, program briefings, and other related actions.
Respond to routine questions pertaining to the mission and function of the assigned office. Referring other inquires to appropriate staff members.
Perform basic data entry and routine report generation using various database management systems.
Read directives and instructional material pertaining to the functions of the assigned office to be aware of new, revised, or amended procedures for that office and provide basic recommendations.

- Must be enrolled as a degree OR certificate seeking student in an accredited institution of higher education, at least part-time, and remain enrolled for the duration of the internship (proof of enrollment is required with your application package)
- Must be able to work at least 16 hours per week, depending on your academic schedule, and preferably full-time during the summer.
- Transcript must state major, earned credit hours, and cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0, and must include school and student identification on them or they will NOT BE CONSIDERED
- Remain in good academic standing in accordance with Participant Agreement. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment
- Grade qualifications must be met prior to start date.

Qualifications
To qualify you must meet the eligibility and education requirements. Your qualifications are evaluated based upon your total amount of COMPLETED education at the time of application.
Eligibility Requirements:
Students must be a citizen of the United States or lawfully admitted to the United States as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed.
Current students enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. Students must be taking at least half-time course load and remain in good academic standing in accordance with the Pathways Participant Agreement, and have a GPA of at least 3.0.
Qualification requirements:
GS-4: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. An academic year is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university (must be accredited by one of the accrediting agencies or associations recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education).
GS-5: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or completion of 4 academic years of pre-professional study. An academic year is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university (must be accredited by one of the accrediting agencies recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education).
GS-7: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; OR Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) Provision and completion of a bachelors degree. S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing (Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.), (2) grade-point average(3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2years of the curriculum. , or (3) honor society membership (Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies- Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision.).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
If selected you:
must sign a Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement;
may be employed throughout the academic year;
must maintain status as a current student;
maintain good academic standing, at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale.
must furnish course registration information at the start of each school term; and
must provide verification of academic status (transcript) at the end of each academic term.
must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance (Non Critical Sensitive/Secret)
may be required to work other than normal hours, which may include evening, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.
may be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
must attain DoD Security Cooperation Workforce (SCW) Certification and complete related continuous learning requirements in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2017, Title 10 United States Code, Section 384 and Security Cooperation Workforce Certification Program 2.0 requirements. Incumbent must complete DoD SCW Basic-level certification courses within one year. Requirements for Proficiency Level 1 - At least 1 year of successful SC work experience with a performance appraisal rating of 3 or better. Incumbent must complete DoD SCW Foundational level certification requirements within one year of entering the SC position. In addition, 40 hours of continuing education (CUE) every two years.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
