Serves as a subject matter expert and senior level Program Director in all aspects of VA's Pain and Opioid Use research program. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of a broad range of skills including the guidance and management of POU research from preclinical/translational, clinical trials to implementation science.

Duties

***THIS IS A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST PERFORM WORK ON-SITE AT A VHA FACILITY AT LEAST 50% OF EACH PAY PERIOD*** NOTE: The salary listed represents the GS Rest of US (RUS) Pay Scale. Upon selection, your salary will be adjusted to include the locality adjustment for your physical location Duties include but may not be limited to: Generates reports by analyzing primary data collected from research results. Oversees analysis of secondary data sources, such as large administrative databases or disparate data sources. Oversees all aspects of the program including committing resources, developing and overseeing budgets, gaining compliance with policies and procedures, and resolving complex issues, Provides strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation. Designs, oversees, monitors, and evaluates the POU program. Advises and provides technical guidance. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. Available ( Applicant is required on site 50% of work schedule per pay period).

To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications: BASIC REQUIREMENT: Qualified applicants must possess a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from an accredited college or university with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position. NOTE: Copies of transcripts are required at the time of application. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized Experience includes working with clinical partners in the areas of pain management, specialty care, and opioid use research; ensures rapid scientific peer review of special emphasis topic areas; oversees all aspects of the program including committing resources, developing and overseeing budgets, gaining compliance with policies and procedures; advises and provides technical guidance to research staff on pain opioid use programs.
