The position of Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic is located at the Durham VA Medical Center.

Duties

The purpose of the work is to perform a variety of tasks related to the operation, maintenance and repair of the electronic HVAC systems utilized at this facility. The scope and effect of the results of the duties described herein are wide and, in many cases, critical to the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of this medical center as a whole. Properly operating ventilation systems are not appreciated until they are missing. Major Duties:

Physical Requirements: Work assignments require moderate physical effort. The employee frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise handles items weighing up to 40 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. The work is performed in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Occasional climbing and work in high places may be required. Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. When equipment is fixed in place, it is sometimes necessary to work in warehouse or industrial areas exposed to loud noises, heat or cold, fumes, etc. The employee is subjected to injuries, such as electric shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical energy or soldering irons.
