This position is located in the Office of Communications and Public Affairs Division serves Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks.
Duties
This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
The National Park Service retains the right to extend the duration of this appointment after selection and/or appointment, based on changes to the regulation governing the number of years term appointments may last. This change, which may be made at the agency's sole discretion and without further competition, shall not be construed or interpreted as the granting of a right to a selectee or employee to such an extension. No extension to a term appointment shall be granted to a selectee/employee to an amount of time that exceeds the maximum number of years authorized under any present or current regulation, unless such regulation expressly allows such action.
DUTIES:
Serve as lead web author for Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Park websites and NPS app creating and improving content, ensuring consistency, providing strategic focus, and coordinating assistance from collateral duty web authors.
Develop engaging digital products including videos, photos, graphics, web content, social media posts, digital publications, and presentation materials for intended audiences that meet NPS mission and park goals to promote park stories, accomplishments, challenges, and current events.
Coordinate development of a digital content strategy for Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks and implement topic-specific digital content strategies and campaigns.
Produce and remediate digital products that meet accessibility standards established in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Track, analyze, and evaluate analytics for social media, website, and other digital platforms and make recommendations to existing digital strategy with specific goals and measurables.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS CONTINUED:
Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/17/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: management of information through digital platforms, products, and services, to include the primary functions of digital content strategy development, digital analytics, digital content creation and management; social media administration and content management; digital platforms authoring; digital audio and/or video production; virtual event planning; digital customer service, and digital training. The primary purpose of this position is to use government-furnished equipment to coordinate the research, development, and management of digital content that engages and informs the public through digital platform-based experiences. At this grade level, the position is responsible for applying resourcefulness, judgment, and ingenuity, as well as fully developed digital media development principles, practices, technologies, and tools to resolve diverse digital content development issues and complete a substantial variety of digital experience projects and assignments. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, have at least six months of the specialized experience described (50% of the experience requirement), and 45 semester hours or 68 quarter hours of directly related graduate level college study as defined in an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education). Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using
education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
