About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Security Office.
This position is being filled as a Security Officer, DJ-0080-04 (GS- 13/14).
Duties
Perform staff planning and management functions in both physical and personnel security administration.
Overall responsibility for management, supervision, oversight and implementation of Specialized Security Functions, Operations Security, Fire Protection/Prevention, Law Enforcement, and Investigations.
Establishes requirements for physical security threat assessments, installation physical security plans, and physical security surveys and inspections.
Manages the ERDC’s Security Guard Force with assigned guard posts 24/7, 365 days a year at multiple ERDC geographic sites.
Responsible for the management and implementation of the ERDC Information Assurance Program, Personnel Security Program, Physical Security Program.
Responsible for the management and implementation of the ERDC Information Security Program, Foreign Disclosure Program, Force Protection/Antiterrorism Programs, and Industrial Security Program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which include: Overall responsible for management, supervision, oversight and implementation of Specialized Security Functions, Operations Security, Fire Protection/Prevention, Law Enforcement, and Investigations, develops and manages a staff budget, establishes requirements for physical security threat assessments, installation physical security plans, and physical security surveys and inspections, and implementing security protection plans to safeguard multi-modal of DoD assets.

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DJ-0080-04 (equivalent to GS-13 to GS-14). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
