As a supervisor/manager, the selectee for this position will be eligible to receive a Manager Performance Incentive (MPI) provided eligibility requirements noted in agency policy are met. The MPI is an annual lump-sum incentive payment that considers agency performance, the manager's individual performance, and available funding.Serves as a managing attorney responsible for leading and managing the processing of legal enforcement cases.

Duties

Serves as the first-level manager for Aviation Litigation attorneys and support staff assigned to the Western Enforcement Practice Team. Reports directly to the Deputy Assistant Chief Counsel for Aviation Litigation. Supervises all legal enforcement matters, part 9, and tort litigation matters including the processing of enforcement actions, FOIA responses, and responses to controlled correspondence. Oversees and supervises litigation before the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the DOT Office of Hearings in Aviation Litigation proceedings. Also oversees Western Team enforcement matters referred to the Department of Justice.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, ALL applicants MUST meet the following criteria:(1) have a JD Degree from an accredited law school; and(2) be admitted to practice before the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction or within the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; and(3) be an active member of that bar; and(4) at least one full year of specialized experience in the work performed at the next lower grade level (FV-J/K or GS-14/15) for this occupational series. A candidate must possess four years of attorney experience and one year of specialized experience, for a total of five years of experience.The specialized experience for this position is defined as:Experience directing and executing plans, programs, policies, or projects in a professional or legal environment; experience handling complex enforcement cases, tort litigation, technical legal, regulatory compliance, or evidentiary issues before administrative or judicial forums; andExperience applying regulatory compliance and legal enforcement policy-related issues.Answer all questions to the best of your ability.
