Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, Uniformed Division or Special Services Division will allow you to track and manage a protective property program and analyze policies, operations, and budgets for the vehicle fleet and technical equipment programs. Duties

The selectee will serve as a Technical Equipment and Fleet Specialist in the Office of Protective Operations. Typical work assignments include: Providing technical advice and assistance to staff on all matters associated with the management and operation of government owned/leased vehicles. Reviewing and tracking purchase requests to ensure accuracy of specifications, funding, and appropriateness of justification. Planning and controlling the receipt, distribution, disposal, and accountability of all technical equipment, components and materials. Monitoring vehicle usage and inventory to compile periodic reports that ensure the proper utilization of vehicles. Providing logistics support to meet the unique needs of the requesting office, as well as alternatives or substitutions to requested equipment; weighing practicality, availability, and suitability for the specified mission.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $99,200.00) if you possess one f ull year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Analyzing program resources (i.e., equipment, funding, materials) to support the preparation of budget estimates, financial plans, and/or procurement actions; Tracking the status (i.e., registration, acquisition, maintenance, inspection, disposal) of vehicles and/or equipment to support the organizational mission; and Conducting evaluations to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and/or vehicle fleet inventory management systems. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The work may involve some physical demands requiring long periods of standing, frequent lifting, moving, and carrying of moderately heavy objects, climbing stairs, and driving a forklift. Work is performed in an office environment for inventory accountability, a warehouse environment for gathering and packaging shipments, or at an Air Force base when loading cargo.
