About the Position: U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts and recreational facilities.

Duties

Serves as the supervisor, Climate Control within the Operations and Maintenance Division, Directorate of Public Works (DPW). Directs operations or functions in several units through one or more layers of supervision. Plans work assignments on a long-range basis for accomplishment by units supervised within schedules and/or priorities established by leadership. Promotes efficient/economical work operations. Adjust objectives and goals related to the mission. Provides direction and implementing policy for progressive personnel management of subordinate staff. Provide oversight over in house HVAC and Steam Projects. Provide technical support to contractor and associated partners to include design reviews of submittals and construction documents.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must have or obtain and maintain Certified Pool and Spa Operator (CPO) certification after one year in the position.
  • Must have or obtain and maintain the AC Universal CFC certification after one year in the position.
  • Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DOD requirement for the type of vehicle being operated.
  • This position is designated as Drug Testing Required. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing in accordance with DA guidelines.
  • Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes are required.
  • Mission Essential: Required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and emergency situations; may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends and mandatory overtime; subject to recall to duty.
  • Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
  • This position requires occasional temporary duty travel (TDY.)
