About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest.

Duties

Serves as Project Manager and Team Leader, responsible for the overall management, control, coordination, and execution of civil works related projects, applying an extensive knowledge of project management process. Integrate sponsor/customer requirements and participation into a comprehensive management plan that is fully coordinated with all contributing agencies and organizations Establish responsibilities, set expectations, develop, control and manage assigned project budgets and schedules to assure that District commitments to the sponsor/customer are met. Manages the efficient and effective coordination and accomplishment of the planning, scoping, development, design, construction, and direction of major projects. Reviews project progress, measuring performance and taking necessary corrective actions to maintain agreed upon schedule and cost based on performance trends, forecasts schedule, budget, manpower, or quality problems. Represents the Commander, serving as the district's primary point of contact for projects assigned with sponsor/customer, Federal, state, and local government agencies, Congressional interests, other external organizations, and higher authorities. This position will perform duties as a Project Manager

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: See assessment for all combinations. 0801, 0810, 0819, 0830, and 0850 Series: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: See assessment for all combinations 0807 Series A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in landscape architecture or landscape design. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: See assessment for all combinations. 0808 Series: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in architecture or in a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: See assessment for all combinations. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance engineering activities at a multi-disciplinary technical organization involved in one or more or the following: hydropower, environmental stewardship (fish and wildlife), recreation and environmental compliance; and experience leading training, mentoring or supervising professional or technical employees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
