As an Equal Employment Specialist (Investigator) you will independently investigate complex employment discrimination issues by planning and conducting interviews, legal research, and record preparation. Extensive knowledge of discrimination theories, EEO laws, and personnel regulations is necessary. The Investigator facilitates resolutions, communicates with stakeholders, and receives case assignments for review, maintaining flexibility in adjusting investigations.
Duties
Conduct investigations to uncover evidence of discrimination.
Interview witnesses to gather information related to allegations of discrimination.
Build comprehensive investigative case records.
Conduct legal research to support investigations.
Make recommendations for new policies and procedures based on investigative findings.
Collaborate with team members to ensure thorough investigations.
Partner with complainants and witnesses to gather investigative facts.
Solve problems encountered during investigations.
Facilitate resolutions between conflicted parties when appropriate.
Communicate rights and responsibilities to all parties during investigation.
Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves (1) Conducting investigations on employment-related issues in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations. (2) Conducting interviews with personnel regarding allegations of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) infractions. (3) Gathering evidence in order to prepare comprehensive investigative reports independently. (4) Providing technical guidance to staff on EEO procedural decisions.
