Duties
This position is within the Office of Integration and Coordination's Planning and Evaluation Team. The Planning and Evaluation Team is charged with improving information sharing and decision-making within the agency and with the external stakeholders by coordinating across global health programs to develop, implement, and evaluate processes, policies, and procedures. This work includes planning, data collection on performance indicators, and enhancing monitoring and evaluation methods.
As a Health Scientist you will:
Plan and conduct scientific surveys/studies or projects to identify and solve public health problems.
Identify and analyze public health issues.
Apply established methodologies and techniques.
Search, synthesize and interpret information relevant to public health.
Review and analyze studies and projects assessing public health issues
Provide technical advice and assistance to national, state and local health agencies and to various other organizations.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Educationat the time the degree was obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: planning and conducting scientific surveys/studies or projects to identify and solve prevention of violence (i.e. child abuse and neglect, child sexual abuse, community violence, youth violence, intimate partner violence, teen dating violence, sexual violence, and elder abuse).

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: evaluating a scientific program and the impact that it may have at the local, state, or national level; and leading and providing technical advice on scientific studies or projects.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
