This position is located in the Office of Open Source Intelligence, Directorate of Threat Investigations and Analysis, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Department of State. You will provide oversight and managerial support to a team engaged in the research and analysis of open source material.
Duties
Develops original and independent intelligence analyses and anticipates potential security and policy implications, assessing impact, and ensuring that recommendations are informed by thorough and objective analysis.
Develops and implements new and innovative strategies for gathering open source information or intelligence in support of complex security issues.
Identifies inadequacies and troubleshoots, applies appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, and takes corrective action in operations.
Identifies and researches requirements, directives, intelligence databases, and various sources to gather, analyze and publish intelligence products information.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Obtain/maintain eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience identifying, researching and mitigating threats and other critical security issues affecting national security.
- Experience providing guidance and advisory services on intelligence related matters.
- Experience planning and coordinating the collection, processing and dissemination of open source intelligence information.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
