Whiteriver PHS Indian Hospital is a 40-bed hospital and provides ambulatory and inpatient services for over 17,000 White Mountain Apache Tribal members and over 4,000 Native Americans living in the surrounding areas. The Cibecue Health Center, located 50 miles Northeast of Whiteriver, provides Outpatient, Urgent Care, Dental, and Community Health Services to over 1,800 residents of Cibecue and Carrizo.
Duties
Assesses nutritional status and plans the appropriate nutrition therapy for a variety of disease states and prevention of disease, either individually or in groups or classes.
Serves as a nutrition consultant for other health care providers and tribal programs.
Provides nutritional education to individuals and families.
Completes documentation in the approved Electronic Health Record (EHR) format with detailed nutrition care plans including a summary of patient's assessment, recommendation for nutrition intervention, and recording the patient's education with an evaluation of the patient's level of understanding.
Collaborate with Diabetes staff to develop case management protocols and procedures for activities.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree, or higher graduate degree, in dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science.
Professional Registration: Active, unrestricted registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:Assess client home glucose results and contact staff to provide medication adjustments as needed to meet client goals; and assess nutritional needs of individual needs and groups. Evaluate clinical and educational outcomes, and make appropriate referrals. Serve as a nutrition consultant for other healthcare providers and Tribal Programs. Plan, implement, and participate in community-based diabetes prevention activities (i.e., health fairs, conferences, radio shows, newspaper articles). Participate in multi-disciplinary, community, and team meetings, as assigned. Initiate CPR and other emergency processes, when necessary.
A combination of graduate education and specialized experience listed above.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
