The primary function of the position is to provide personal assistance to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) by performing a variety of executive-level secretarial support and administrative duties necessary to the accomplishment the executive's responsibilities.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Manage the day-to-day activities of the associated ELT members. Has exclusive control over the schedules and calendars using own initiative and judgment in determining priorities for appointments and activities.
Independently determines which callers should be referred to subordinate or alternate resources for assistance.
Advises the ELT members of the nature of conferences, appointments and meetings which are scheduled and assures that all necessary background materials are made available for review prior to the appointments.
Screens all calls and visitors answering most questions and completing most business issues/concerns involving established policy or routine matters without referring individuals to the ELT member.
Reviews all correspondence and other inquiries received by the ELT members and determines which ones must be brought to the immediate attention of ELT and which ones may be handled as a matter of routine.
Arranges meetings, conferences and special events/visits for the ELT members.
Accumulates and organizes information for the Offices of the associated ELT members required for evaluating programs and their requirements, making presentations pertaining to the needs of the ELT.
Serve as back-up support in the maintenance of the suspense tracking system, which assigns actions to services and staff for needed responses to the Network, VA Central Office, Congressional inquiries, and other interested stakeholders/parties.
Collaborates in a team-oriented, customer-driven, professional environment to develop new models of care that emphasize prevention, improve access and coordination of care; educate and empower patients and their families; enhance the customer experience with positive human interactions and therapeutic alliances; and promote the coordination, continuity and integration of care.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 0800-1630
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/05/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
NOTE: Must be able to type 40 words per minute.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience providing administrative support. Experience processing and reviewing documents. That may include legal documents or administrative records for completeness and accuracy. Experience utilizing electronic systems to gather, review, input, update, access, organize, process, and to maintain information for use in litigation and/or to accomplish time or case management functions.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is normally sedentary, but includes some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers and books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
