You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the EXPDITIONARY MAINTENANCE CENTER of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER.
Duties
You will independently accomplish various repairs, from minor tune-ups to complete frame up overhauls on all types of equipment.
You will diagnose, troubleshoot, remove, adjust, modify, repair or replace defective components in such sub-systems as ignition, emission, electronic and computer controlled systems.
You will repair, overhaul, and rebuild attachments and other utility systems on such equipment as bulldozers, road graders, rollers, power shovels, backhoes, stationary generators, patrol boats, and more.
You will repair clutches, transmission systems, differentials, final drives, generators, governors, reduction gears, hydraulic systems, hydraulic and pneumatic braking systems.
You will install and align internal combustion engines, hoisting machinery and related equipment.
You will use electrical-mechanical systems and interrelated components such as control modules, switches, actuators, sensors and wiring.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States Class A Commercial driver’s license and the required endorsements within 12 months of start date.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operators Identification Card (OF-346) that annotates the size and type of vehicles approved to operate to include forklifts rated up to 60,000 pounds.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

1) Applying knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic principles are applied to heavy-duty vehicles and equipment; 2) Performing repairs and overhaul of major systems such as supercharged and turbo engines, automatic and manual transmissions, and interrelated subsystems; 3) Operate electrical-mechanical systems and interrelated components such as control modules, switches, actuators, sensors and wiring; and 4) Read and interpret equipment repair orders, technical trade publications, and blueprints.
