You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER in the NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING SYSTEMS COMMAND of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER.
Duties
You will lead other employees within the work center as appropriate and perform the duties of the employee's designated trade.
You will normally be assigned and perform journeyman duties of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic on a daily basis.
You will see to it that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
You will ensure that there is enough work to keep everyone in the work crew busy and checking work in-progress then once completed to see whether deadlines have been met.
You will report to supervisors on status, progress of work, and causes of work delay.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Class A commercial driving license and the required endorsements within 12 months of the selectee's effective date.
- Required to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s Identification Card (OF-346) that annotates the size and type of vehicles approved to operate to include forklifts rated up to 60,000 pounds.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
