You will serve as a FUEL DISTRUBUTION SYSTEM WORKER in the OPERATIONS BRANCH MGT & REQUIRMENTS of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will lift and position equipment, parts, and tools to allow journeyman to complete their work assignments. You will comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements when oily waste is returned to an oily wastewater system or barge. You will calculate time of safe fill of pumping operations to avoid oil spills. You will control the movement and storage of fuel supply by operating high pressure systems and a series of terminals connections. You will measure fuel quantities as they are received, stored, transferred, or loaded into storage tanks, trucks, or marine vessels. You will move heavy equipment or materials around a worksite using material handling equipment (e.g., fork lifts, loaders, cranes).

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. 1) Drawing samples from storage tanks of fuel, oil and water to be submitted to the laboratory for analysis; 2) Operating fuel tanker trucks to deliver bulk fuel to customers; and 3) Examining facilities and equipment and reporting or taking care of any discrepancies. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.
