This is a Fall Student Intern appointment (90 days) in the Pathways Program. May be extended and upon successful completion of the Pathways Internship Program requirements in accordance with 5 CFR 362.204 (work experience hours, satisfactory performance, educational requirements, mandatory training completion, etc.) interns may be non-competitively converted to a term, career conditional or career appointment within 120 days to a position and grade deemed qualified (No Guarantee).

Duties

The incumbent in this position will assist and/or support the Financial Institutions & Capital Mobilization Division (FICMD) & Project Portfolio Management Division (PPMD) officers in the loan monitoring process, which may include any or all the following: - Assessing financial performance, loan compliance and other related tasks and performing analysis of policy issues, industry issues and country risk. - Assessing borrower risk profile and completing risk rating scorecards recommendations for approval. - Monitoring and tracking financial statements received from borrowers, sponsors, and guarantors. Monitoring and tracking receipt of all other reports and compliance with covenants as required under individual loan agreements. - Analyzing financial statements, borrower reports, industry information and other sources in preparing credit actions including loan reviews. - Receiving and reviewing borrower requests for changes to the loan agreement or certain covenants and terms contained within such agreements and recommending courses of action. Preparing credit action memos, and disbursement memos to obtain approval of appropriate levels at DFC according to DFC's own internal delegations of authority. • Must be a current and continuing student in college, trade school or other qualifying educational institution.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-07 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements: A. Completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in a field of study that demonstrates the competencies required by this position with either (1) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale; (2) a 3.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale for all required courses completed in a qualifying major field of study at either the time of application or during the last two years of your undergraduate curriculum; (3) class standing of upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or a major subdivision of the college; or, (4) membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society certified by the Association of College Honor Societies, excluding freshman honor societies; OR B. One full year of graduate level education in an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in one of the following related fields in financing. The education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

PASS/FAIL COURSES:
If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION is education acquired outside of any State of the U.S., the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, a Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, or any territory or possession of the U.S. If you are using foreign education to meet qualification and/or eligibility requirements, you must submit a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency (a U.S. private organization's interpretation that such education has been deemed at least equivalent to conventional U.S. education programs or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university) with your application in order to receive credit for that education. (Foreign education transcripts will not be accepted).
