About the Position: This position is located in the US ARMY FIRES CENTER OF EXCELLENCE G6. The incumbent Serves as the CIO/G-6 Operations Officer and Deputy CIO/G-6 Officer to the Center of Excellence. Responsible for planning, managing, and directing programs and projects for the Center and subordinate organization in matters relating to Information Technology, Information Management and Knowledge Management (IT/IM/KM).

Duties

Develops, modifies, or provides input to project plans. Technically reviews completed work projects relative to sound IT protocols and provides technical assistance and guidance as required. Within US Army IT policy and planning function, incumbent accomplishes technical, analytical and advisory functions pertinent to the development of local policies, plans, and processes covering the IT program. Serves as the Center Deputy CIO/G-6 responsible for establishing and assignment of staff work schedules and priorities. Provides oversight of the Center IT/IM/KM functions and ensures reporting is accomplished per higher headquarters directives in compliance with Center, TRADOC, Army and DoD policy and regulations Evaluates subordinates' performance and gives advice, counsel and gives instructions to employees on both administrative and technical matters. Hears and resolves complaints and grievances presented by employees. Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and maintains programs, policies, and procedures to ensure availability of systems, networks, and data used by the Center.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be able to obtain/hold a SECRET security clearance.
  • Up to 25% TDY maybe required.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime.

The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of experience demonstrating this competency include: completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others. Examples of experience demonstrating this competency include: expressing facts and ideas in a clear, concise, convincing, and organized manner; clearly conveying moderately complex ideas, concepts, and information to customers; exhibiting active listening by demonstrating understanding of audience comments and/or questions. (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of experience demonstrating this competency include: identifying and solving problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives; recognizing and taking action to address non-routine problems; soliciting feedback from multiple stakeholders to understand an issue or problem and accurately assess its root causes and potential solutions; seeking supervisory review where appropriate.
