The Tele-Psychiatry position is located at the Whiteriver Service Unit (WRSU), Medical Department in Whiteriver, AZ. The incumbent will deliver a full range of psychiatry services through a blended model of telehealth-based care and quarterly on-site clinics. This position reports to the Assistant Clinical Director.
Duties
Provides direct psychiatric clinical evaluations, diagnosis, treatment and treatment planning providing psychotherapeutic and other psychological services and provide services primarily via videoconferencing, store-and-forward, and other telehealthbased means.
Provide services for the following: individual services, group therapy, relaxation therapy, behavior therapy, and child and adolescent therapies, outpatient psychotherapy for patients presenting both minor and severe emotional problems. Examines, diagnoses, treats and follows inpatients and outpatients with neuropsychiatric problems of severe and extreme complexity.
Provides, as appropriate, crisis intervention services to patients in the hospital, emergency room, and outpatient clinics.
Serves as consultant to other medical staff, medical students, community health medics, nurses, schools, and other medical professionals.
Coordinates the development of standards of care specific to telehealth-based and in-person psychiatric services, and monitors compliance with such standards for prevalent conditions.
Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): In order to qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following degree requirements for a physician position.
EDUCATION: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
OR
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States as demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country.
LICENSURE: This physician position provides direct patient care; as such, all eligible candidates must meet the licensure requirement. Possession of a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
GRADUATE TRAINING: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine degree, all candidates must have had at least (1) year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting. Graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below.
Internship:Completion of a 1-year internship program which involved a broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Residency: Completion of the first year of a residency program which involved training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association (AMA) or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Fellowship:Completion of a fellowship program which involved advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0602-15:Completed 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training. Examples of experience: Provide direct psychiatric clinical evaluations, diagnosis, treatment and treatment planning providing psychotherapeutic and other psychological services; Provided primarily via videoconferencing, store-and-forward, and other tele-health based means; Services provided include individual services, group therapy, relaxation therapy, behavior therapy, and child and adolescent therapies; Provide outpatient psychotherapy for patients presenting both minor and severe emotional problems; Provides, as appropriate, crisis intervention services to patients in the hospital, emergency room, and outpatient clinics; Experience with mental health service delivery in an Indian Health Service or Tribal health care facility; Experience with tele-mental health service delivery.
OR
Possess a combination of approved residency in Psychiatry and progressive experience equivalent in breadth and intensity for this position.
