Duties
As a INFORMATION OPERATIONS PLANNING SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Acts as principle advisor on all issues involving Operations in the Information Environment (OIE), Information Operations (IO), Military Deception (MILDEC), and Operation Security (OPSEC) plans
Provides strategic, operational, and tactical level expertise in support of the development of USTRANSCOM Component Commands (TCCs), and other Combatant Command (CCMD) IO planning.
Ensures planning efforts support the integration of all information forces to include Military Information Support Operations (MISO), Electronic Warfare (EW), MILDEC, and OPSEC.
Advises on OIE integration, and provides support with implementation into USTRANSCOM's Operational Plan (OPLAN), contingency strategies, plans and policies.
Coordinates deconfliction of USTRANSCOM Information Operation actions and activities with the Joint Staff, other combatant commands, components, service staff, supporting commands, and other government agencies.

- This position is designated by the Air Force as a Test Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force
Civilian Drug Test Program. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use

- This position is designated as a key position. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of
wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
Mastery level knowledge of Joint Information Operation strategy, policy, doctrine, plans, and combatant command activities in relation to Joint Staff planning and processes; extensive knowledge of a broad range of military operations, functions, requirements, and capabilities in support of real-world crisis.
Comprehensive knowledge of the combatant command mission across the JDDE and structure of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard for use in planning and coordinating OIE issues between supporting and supported unified commands.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written communication is essential. Effective communication is required due to frequent contact with senior-level representatives of military/civilian agencies involved in IO plans and programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
