Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Visual Information Specialist, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Supporting the organization by producing graphic design products that are consistently creative, research-based, and developed with an audience-first approach in alignment with creative briefs, client goals, industry best practices, and project requirements. Developing presentations using commercially available presentation software, including graphics, charts, graphs, and photos. Developing infographics, flyers, handouts, in both print and digital form. Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders, responsible for completing projects based on project criteria, prioritization, and resourcing needs. Presenting or overseeing presentation of final concepts and obtaining reviews and approvals for deliverables from clients and stakeholders where appropriate.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Have undergraduate and graduate education with a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. - OR- Possess experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. - AND - Minimum Qualifications: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least two (2) of the following: Developing print and/or web products using commercially available software, including graphics, charts, graphs, and/or photos. Developing infographics, flyers, and/or handouts, in both print and/or digital form. Overseeing product creation from inception to final product. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
