Duties

Resolve transportation management issues with help from senior specialists. Examine Transportation Terminals to collect data for special projects. Monitor field training exercises for sealift requirements. Brief the Supervisory Traffic Management Specialist on all operations. Attend planning conferences to provide recommendations on transportations issues. Review transportation system designs to ensure they meet users' needs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time
  • Employee may be required to be available for TDY within 24-hour notice as such times as directed as member of the 599th Transportation Brigade Deployment and Distribution Support Team (DDST).
  • This position is designated as Emergency Essential (EE) (IAW AR 690-11). Emergency-Essential (EE) designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.

Working with senior specialists to resolve transportation issues. 2. Utilizing automated transportation systems to determine cargo volumes and/ or booking requirements. 3. Maintaining constant liaison with Commands and subordinate Transportation Battalions. 4. Examining port of embarkation/debarkation schedules to estimate times at terminal seaports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Planning and EvaluatingTechnical CompetenceTransportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
