The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) manages the exploration and development of the nation's offshore resources. It seeks to appropriately balance economic development, energy independence, and environmental protection through oil and gas leases, renewable energy development and environmental reviews and studies. Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Office of the Director, Chief of Staff Office, located in Washington, DC. At the full performance level (GS-15) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Oversee day-to-day management activities within the BOEM Immediate Office of the Director. 2. Conduct independent analysis or review complex technical materials produced by subject matter experts in order to provide independent recommendations. 3. Develop and manage standard operating procedures, internal controls, and other important operational components to ensure smooth and consistent operations. 4. Draft and edit briefing papers and presentations on high profile and complex policy and regulatory issues for the Director, Assistant Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Secretary. 5. Serve as liaison between the Bureau and Department officials and between BOEM leadership and various program areas to establish priorities and facilitate information and document flow into and out of the Office of the Director. BOEM has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. Salary Information: GS-15: ($163,964 - $191,900) First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience requirement for the series to which you are applying. Specialized Experience Requirement: To qualify for the GS-15, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the 14 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1. Applying business management practices to evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements in various administrative functions and processes. 2. Managing and/or leading a diverse workforce in support of mission objectives. 3. Communicating with all levels of management, to include senior executive level management, in carrying out duties and providing authoritative advice to executive level management, staff and/or leadership on special projects. 4. Establishing priorities and facilitating information and correspondence flow into and out of an executive level (equivalent level or higher) office. 5. Drafting policy, briefing, and/or technical documents in conformance with organizational policy and for senior management's use. Must meet 4 out of the 5 statements.
