About the Position: Serves as program manager for Environmental Compliance and project officer for studies, briefings and reports in support of the business functions of Operations Division, Nashville District, Nashville, TN. Provides technical and administrative support in regards to applicable state and business line requirements.
Duties
Conduct annual programmatic initiatives.
Exercise thorough knowledge of environmental laws, policies, and regulations to provide technical guidance.
Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of policies and procedures that have or could have impact upon the organization's ability to carry out its mission in and effective and efficient manner.
Serve as Operations Division Sustainability Coordinator. Advises the Commander, Division, and Branch Chiefs on environmental compliance requirements, issues, and successes.
Coordinate environmental issues with appropriate district elements as well as with other federal, state, and local regulatory agency personnel to support of the district's environmental management and compliance programs.
Assist in a staff capacity in the day-to-day management of the Division's fiscal and business activities.
Participate in the formulation of goals, policies, plans, procedures and objectives for the Division.
Develop guidance and provide direct support to area managers within the division regarding the preparation of FY budgets and determining special funding needs to meet established environmental regulations.
Develop and implements policy guidance and directives to ensure environmental management and compliance programs are consistent throughout the district.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type swork or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience which includes applying analytical skill in order to solve problems involving diverse aspects of environmental protection (e.g., performing investigations, inspections, or oversight activities of a new program or a program that is being redefined, where procedures require frequent modification and change) and utilizing environmental statutes, regulations, licensing/permitting requirements, and precedent decisions governing environmental operations; management, administration or coordination sufficient to provide advisory, review, evaluation, education and/or training on specific problems, projects, programs or functions related to the environment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
